Ghost Ship | Earth. Sky. Memory.
Competition
A geometric body cuts along the grain of the landscape, laden with memories of strong wind and the dwelling that shelters from it. With a heavy extension that recalls the Viking Longhouse, the earth-bound building’s body is constructed of local stone. A sod roof floats above on a thin datum of light, a lifted plane from which one peers through a framed timber “forest” at the horizon, the sky, and the Aurora Borealis.
In contrast to the heavy stone mother-ship, the wandering guest pods disperse across the landscape like bales of hay, sheep, birds--like transient visitors.
