The Front at South Main - Social Space

Located in the heart of the Front at South Main, an undulating wall co-exists adjacent to the warm wood climbing walls that surround. The wall is a pragmatic and sculptural installation, providing seating adjacent to a small cafe. The bench wall provides spaces to eat, study, lounge, play, observe and socialize, with benches of varying depths and angles to allow for various positions of the body. The cafe and seating wall were designed and fabricated with the SLC local climbing wall fabricator, Vertical Solutions. Using a collaborative analogue / digital workflow and a series of mock-ups, the design was tested for loungability and assembly prior to its final installation, looking out into the climbing areas of the South Main Front.
